Passport Photo Submission Requirements:
- You need to provide 2 identical photos that meet the following requirements.
Photo Size:
- The photos must measure 45 millimetres (mm) high by 35 mm wide.
Face Size Requirement:
- The image of you, from the crown of your head to your chin, must be between 29 mm and 34 mm high.
Head Appearance:
- Ensure your head appears as described in the example above.
Photo Source:
- You can't use photos that have been cut down from larger pictures. Your photo must have been taken within the last month.
Photo Composition:
- The photo should feature a close-up of your full head and upper shoulders.
- It should not contain any other objects or people.
- The background must be light grey or cream, providing clear contrast to the photo.
Photo Quality:
- The photo must not have ‘red eye’.
Facial Positioning:
- In your photo, you must face the camera directly and look forward.
- Keep your mouth closed and maintain a plain expression.
- Ensure your eyes are open and visible.
- No hair should be in front of your eyes.
- You must wear no head covering unless it is for religious or medical reasons.
- Your face must not be obscured.
Shadow Requirement:
- Ensure there are no shadows on your face or behind you.
Printed Photo Quality:
- Your photos must be printed to a professional standard: clear, in focus, in color, and on plain white photographic paper with no border.
- Photos should be free of creases or tears, unmarked on both sides, and unaltered by computer software.
Digital Photo Options:
- You can obtain a digital photo either from a photo booth or shop before applying for your passport, or by taking one using your device during your passport application.
Digital Photo Requirements:
- The digital photo must be clear, in focus, and in color.
- It must be unaltered by computer software.
- The photo should be at least 600 pixels wide and 750 pixels tall, between 50KB and 10MB.
- The digital photo must contain no other objects or people and must be taken against a plain light-colored background, in clear contrast.
Child Photo Requirements:
- For photos of babies and children, children must be alone in the picture.
- Babies must not hold toys or use dummies.
- Children under 6 do not need to look directly at the camera or have a plain expression.
- Children under one do not need to have their eyes open, but if their head is supported by a hand, the hand must not be visible in the photo.
